Compassion (Com*pas"sion) (?),
n.
[F., fr. L. compassio, fr. compati to have compassion;
com- + pati to bear, suffer. See Patient.]
Literally, suffering with another; a sensation
of sorrow excited by the distress or misfortunes of another; pity;
commiseration.
Synonyms -- Sympathy; commiseration;
fellow-feeling; mercy; condolence.
Compassion means different things to different
people. At ZenSutra it is one of the key values that encompass our vision. To us it simply means acting on our instincts and employing
our endeavors to help those who need our help.
The entire team at ZenSutra has a compassionate
outlook however some of our team members have taken it upon themselves
to continually find new challenges that need commitment and then
motivate others to join in the efforts necessary to solve these
problems. They include Sheetal, Nazneen, Ramesh and Ashok.
Compassion Initiatives
"In the alchemy of man's soul almost
all noble attributes- courage, honor, love, hope, faith, duty, loyalty,
and so on- can be transmuted into ruthlessness. Compassion alone
stands apart from the continuous traffic between good and evil proceeding
within us. Compassion is the antitoxin of the
soul: where there is compassion, even the most poisonous impulses
remain relatively harmless".
- Eric Hoffer
